Honeybear Nursery focused on Healthy Nursery

We are focused on being a Healthy Nursery for our children and our staff.  Here we set out some of the ways that we deliver this.

Our overall approach and our team members’ attitudes, form the central planks to our ability to develop the children’s knowledge and attitudes towards healthy lifestyles.

The Early Learning Goals guide us to focus on the personal, social, emotional and physical development of our children.  In addition, since we were founded in 1989, we have always explored the importance of healthy lifestyles with our children.  This includes encouraging the children to:

·         Make healthy food choices through providing such choices, and also by talking about the importance of the different foods

·         Develop their co-ordination, control and movement through Group activities where physical control is required, as well as during weekly activities with Diddi Dance, Stretch & Grow and Little Sports

·         Exercise three times per day in the outdoor play areas where they can run around, regardless of the weather.  Being outdoors stimulates the children’s mental wellbeing, as well as supporting their physical development

·         Develop their Wellbeing through meditation and quiet-time during their daily Rest Time

·         Understand the need to look after our health, including visits from organisations such as Dental Play Box

As well as encouraging the children to develop their knowledge and attitudes towards healthy lifestyles, we encourage our team members to consider their own health and wellbeing.

Our fabulous cooks, who cook on-site, work together to constantly develop our seasonal menus so they are healthy and use local produce.  The children are also encouraged to take fruit and water all day.
