COVID:19 – Mental Wellbeing

Outbreaks of infectious diseases like the COVID-19 virus can be confusing and worrying, ultimately affecting our emotional wellness. Here are a few ways that you can manage your well-being during uncertain times.

  1. Stay informed through reputable sources We have collated a list of trusted sources with the most up-to-date information on this strain of the virus.

      2. Make Time for Yourself

If you are feeling overwhelmed, take some time out. Even 15 minutes of ‘me time’ a day brings positive benefits.

Eating well, getting enough sleep, exercising, keeping hydrated and laughing can help you get through during difficult times.

Mindfulness is also an excellent – and proven – way to reduce stress and anxiety and allows us to view even the most painful situations objectively.

You don’t have to be experienced in meditation or relaxation techniques. The great thing about mindfulness is that we all do it naturally. And while it can take practice to get into the flow, it’s easier than you might think.

3. Keep in touch with friends and loved ones

It is important to stay socially connected and involve our families in our health plans.

If you are facing the prospect of self-isolation, your pace of life will change for that period of time and it is helpful to keep in touch with the people that matter to you. The Mental Health Foundation have provided more tips and advice.
